The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records 1917-1932

Third Man Records and Revenant Records are releasing "The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records 1917-1932". Volume One drops on October 29th; Volume 2 will be out in the fall of 2014.

Airshow's David Glasser and Anna Frick have been working on the restoration and re-mastering of the first 800 tracks since this past winter, trying to keep up with the steady stream of fresh transfers from expert archival guru Christopher King.

Befitting a Revenant project, the packaging and attention to detail are beyond awesome. And the music is revelatory: Blind Lemon Jefferson, Ma Rainey, Fletcher Henderson, Alberta Hunter...800 tracks from 172 artists on a USB drive with custom music and image player, plus 6 LPs and assorted books, pamphlets, and memorabilia.

30th Anniversary Photos + Flood Relief

We were thrilled to see many amazing friends, partners, and clients at last month's 30th anniversary celebrations! Special thanks to our speakers and co-presenters: Greg Lukens of Washington Professional Systems, Sam Berkow of SIA Acoustics, and Wind Over the Earth.

Our Boulder event came on the heels of a major flood in the area, and not only did our band (almost all from Lyons, CO--one of the most affected towns) still play a great two sets for us, but our clients came through to help their community. Airshow matched donations and held a silent auction for a mastering session, and together we raised $2480 for the United Way Foothills Flood Relief Fund! 100% of funds raised through this effort are used toward health and human services for those affected by the flooding in Boulder and Broomfield counties.
Check out all of our event photos from Takoma Park, MD and Boulder, CO and tag yourself and your friends!

River's Rising:  Front Range Flood Relief

In addition to the fundraising at our 30th Anniversary Celebration, Dominick Maita at Airshow Boulder donated his mastering talents to the production of River's Rising: Front Range Flood Relief

The compilation includes songs from Furthur, Widespread Panic, Umphrey's McGee, Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers, Slightly Stoopid, The Original Meters, and Railroad Earth as well as locally based acts Big Head Todd and the Monsters, The String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon, Yonder Mountain String Band, and many more!

28 tracks for $15, and
proceeds benefit United Way Foothills.

New Client Sounds

Jim Lauderdale's new album Old Time Angels was recorded the way that few records are these days: with all the musicians in the same room, playing the songs live into mics and no overdubs or individual tracking. Producer Randy Kohrs also plays dobro and sings, Scott Vestal on banjo, Mike Compton on mandolin, Jay Weaver on bass, and Billy Contreras on fiddle. Randy LeRoy mastered this album at Airshow Takoma Park.

Although Rachel DiMartino is a classically trained flutist, this Boulder, Colorado Singer/Songwriter is experimenting with the endless palette and infinite possible frequencies in Electronic music. From lush and spacious downtempo landscapes to chill club grooves,  Rachel's music can be described as an intelligent and feeling approach to electronic composition. Her new singles were mastered by Jon Gold at Airshow Boulder.

Texas Towns & Tex-Mex Sounds by Los Texmaniacs was just nominated for Best Tejano Album for the 14th annual Latin GRAMMY Awards! The album was mastered by Charlie Pilzer at Airshow Takoma Park, recorded and mixed by Pete Reiniger, and released on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings.
