SOME OF GOD'S GREATEST GIFTS...

when God says no

In his hit song "Unanswered Prayer," Garth Brooks tells the story of running into his old high school sweetheart at a football game in their hometown. As he introduces her to his wife, he thinks about that past relationship and about how fervently he had prayed that this girl would be his significant other forever. He realizes that, through the years, both of them have changed, and then he looks to his wife and acknowledges that God knew what He was doing all along.

"Yes," "No" and "Wait."  Answers to prayer come in a variety of forms. The longer you walk with Christ, the more you realize that life isn't as cut-and-dry as they made it out in Sunday School.  In fact, sometimes things get downright messy.  Most of us have a story of praying earnestly for something we thought God wanted for us, only to see that prayer seemingly go unanswered.

I hope you can join us this weekend as we'll see how David (a man after God's own heart) went to the Lord with a God-honoring request --a selfless request, a request that would bring glory and honor to God-- only to be told that God's answer was not the one that David was expecting.

Embracing the journey,
Pastor Rick
