WHAT IS FAITH FOR?
Each weekend we've been looking at some of the "Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe." These are things that seem to have a certain ring of truth to them, but fail to stand up under closer scrutiny. This weekend, we're looking at one of the most common "Spiritual Urban Legends" which is that "Faith Can Fix Anything." In other words, if I just have enough faith, if I believe hard enough, I can get whatever I want. Some people have summed up this belief with slogans like "What I Confess I Possess," "If I Believe It, I Can Achieve It" and "Name It and Claim It". Is there any Biblical basis for this kind of attitude?
We know that the Bible calls us as, followers of Jesus Christ, to live lives that are characterized by faith. In Hebrews chapter 11, we're introduced to a group of individuals who overcame, escaped and conquered as a result of their faith. What we sometimes forget is that that same chapter also introduces us to another group that was tortured, imprisoned and put to death. Both sets of people were commended for their faith. If our faith can't fix anything, then what good is it?

 YOUNG ADULTS COFFEE RUN
ERBC Young Adults join us for worship at the 5:30 service and then we'll carpool to surrounding areas where we'll hand out coffee, hot chocolate and pastries to the homeless.  YOUTH SPRING RETREAT
ERBC Youth are going to Pismo beach for a weekend of building relationships with one another and with God. We'll spend the weekend building sand castles, taking a surf lesson, swimming in the hot spring, plus taking some time to eat together, worship together and dig into God's Word together. Cost is $80. Find support, encouragement and compassion in the midst of grief. ERBC is offering a 6-week grief support ministry for adults who have experienced the loss of a close friend or family member.
