Christmas

WHAT DOES GOD WANT FROM ME?

sign

"He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"

Micah 6:6-8

In the movie, Bruce Almighty, Jim Carrey's character (Bruce) is having the worst day of his life. He drives off in his car in the rain. He's going nowhere in particular and his frustration is turning to desperation.  He cries out to God, "Okay, God. You want me to talk to you? Then talk back.  Tell me what's going on? What should I do? Give me a sign!"

Have you ever found yourself in this situation?  Like Bruce, we're asking, "What is it, God, that You want me to do?"  Micah tells us in this passage what God wants us to do. He lays out three things that should characterize our lives as Christians, to 'do justice', to 'love mercy', and to 'walk humbly with our God.'

I hope you can join us this weekend as we continue our "Answer the Call" series and look at the second thing that God requires of us.

Embracing the journey,

Pastor Rick

ANSWERING THE CALL  Answering the Call

By now you have hopefully heard about our Special Offering, ANSWERING THE CALL, that includes some God-sized goals for 2013.

The first gifts to ANSWERING THE CALL are already coming in, and it's exciting to see how our church is responding to this unique opportunity to support these initiatives.

If you'd like to know more about the specifics of this year's special offering take a moment and check out the page on our website.

Please take a look and pray about making a special sacrificial gift to the offering either right now online or this weekend using your offering envelope.

Through the Answering the Call Special Offering we have the opportunity as a church to make a HUGE impact for God in the coming year by:

  • Doing justice by partnering with I-empathize (anti-human trafficking organization) and Living Water International (a Christian organization that provides clean drinking water for the poorest of the poor around the world)
  • Loving mercy by supporting organizations that assist the widows, orphans, and the poor and needy in our community and around the world.
  • Walking humbly with our God by sharing God's love through outreach and evangelism projects, offering resources in marriage, financial and emotional counseling and investing in local church planting

So - let me encourage you in this... Will you make a sacrificial gift to support these ministry initiatives  right now online, or this weekend at the service? You may even add the special offering to the amount you give 'over and above' your tithes over the next several weeks.

Also - will you join me in praying for this offering?  Pray that as a church we will surpass our goal of $50,000 - and pray specifically about what amount God would have you give.

These are exciting times for our church...as I believe God has much for us to do in the next year!   In the coming weeks, I'll share even more details about how this offering will make a difference both here in Southern California, as well as around the world...but know how appreciative I am of you and how blessed I feel to know that you are part of our ERBC family.

Expecting great things from God in 2013...

Pastor Rick
