Glen Weisbrod co-authored an article for the October 2013 issue of Planning Magazine, publication of the American Planning Association (APA).  Weisbrod collaborated with Julie Lorenz of Burns and McDonnell to co-author, "Getting Up to Speed with Transportation Economic Tools," which discusses how a growing number of agencies are showing that economic impact analysis can be used in decision-making across every planning stage - with positive results. ECONOMIC IMPACTS OF SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT
For the San Francisco Airport Commission, EDR Group led a team to provide a detailed and comprehensive estimate of the contribution and roles of SFO to the Bay Area economy. Findings from the study led the airport to win a 2013 San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business award for job creation in the area. Read More
TOOLS FOR ASSESSING BENEFITS OF TRANSPORTATION
For the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP 2) Capacity Project C11, EDR Group led a consultant team to develop improved spreadsheet-based tools designed to help calculate a transportation project's impact on travel time reliability, market access, and intermodal connectivity.  This is described in a TRB-issued report titled "Development of Tools for Assessing Wider Economic Benefits of Transportation" Read More
ASSISTANCE TO TIGER GRANT RECIPIENTS
EDR Group assisted two TIGER grant recipients with the economic impact analysis on their applications that won them discretionary TIGER grants. The application for the Port of Eastport Breakwater Replacement (ME)  discussed impacts on areas including international tourism, livability, safety and new technologies.  The Apponaug bypass TIGER application (RI) documented both the traditional transportation benefits and impacts of a new bypass, as well as the effects on livability and economic vitality.  Read More
