To Receive AIA Ohio Gold Medal
|
John W. Rogers, FAIA, FACHA decided he wanted to be an architect in junior high. He received his BS in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 1979. He joined GBBN Architects in 1984 as a project architect advancing to partner in charge of GBBN's healthcare division and served on their Board of Directors.
In 2010, John took a position as Corporate Architect with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and is a key member of the Design, Construction and Space Management Team of the Facilities Management Department responsibilities include planning for services that meet the mission, financial and capital parameters for medical services on five campuses and over 60 facilities. In one of the submittal exhibits Thomas E. Kinman, PE, Vice President, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center writes "...John has made a positive impact through consistent innovation in medical planning and design...changes in technology are possible through facilities that have truly improved child health which is our primary goal..." John's involvement with the AIA dates back to the mid 1980's. He has served as president of AIA Cincinnati, Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati, AIA Ohio, and AIA Ohio Foundation. On the national level he served as AIA Ohio Valley Region Director, Institute Treasurer and 2013 Convention Chair. He was invited to be a founding member of the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) in 2000. John was elevated to Fellow in 2012. He was elected to the ACHA Board in 2014 and currently serving as Treasurer. John is also known for his origami designs that he has gifted to many and has been featured in museums around the world including the Smithsonian Museum and the White House in Washington, DC. Please join us in congratulating John in receiving this prestigious award. AIA Ohio will be presenting the Gold Medal during the AIA Ohio Convention in October.
