Care Management team updates
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) funding available:
A limited, one-time allocation of state funding is available to meet the needs of consumers diagnosed with TBI. Providers may request the use of these funds by contacting Dr. Robin Vanwy at 828-586-5501, ext. 1189. Due to the limited amount of funds, it is recommended that they be used for single-use supports such as modifications or supplies rather than services.
Outpatient therapy billing information:
After careful review of both the Clinical Coverage Policy and the National Correct Coding Initiative, Smoky's Clinical Practices Cross Functional Team has determined that a group session and an individual therapy session may be billed on the same date by the same attending provider. These two sessions must occur in different time intervals. Individual codes include 90832 - 90845 and group codes include 90849 - 90853.
Psychological evaluations for consumers receiving intellectual/developmental disability (I/DD) services:
Consumers who receive I/DD services are only required to have updated psychological evaluations if the team recognizes that the consumer's functioning has changed to an extent that would merit another assessment or if it is requested by Smoky's Utilization Management staff. There is no requirement that testing be repeated every three to five years. Please call Rachel Smith, I/DD Care Management Manager at 828-586-5501, ext. 1139 with any questions.
