Eva Smith, Ph.D. student in materials science and engineering, recently published a paper, "Interplay of Octahedral Rotations and Lone Pair Ferroelectricity in CsPbF3," with Cornell Profs. Craig Fennie and Nicole Benedek in the journal Inorganic Chemistry.

On Monday, August 24, the Graduate School welcomed new graduate and professional students to Cornell.  
New Perk for Students
 
The Graduate School is pleased to announce a new vendor-discount program to help Cornell community members save money.  All Cornell undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, staff, faculty and retirees are now eligible to participate in the SUNY Perks program. 

SUNY Perks provides discounts on many products, including computers, cell phone service, travel, movies, cars and restaurants. With each purchase, buyers earn points that can be redeemed when purchases are made. Typical savings include 20% off ATT cell service, $8.49 movie tickets, and substantial discounts on clothing and car purchases.

Join us for Cornell's Monthly Meeting for Student Parents  - TIME OUT

A evening designed for student parents to build community and to share information and strategies for success, during which dinner and childcare are provided.

  • For Parents: Enjoy dinner with fellow parents and spouses/partners followed by a facilitated discussion on a topic of importance to your role as a parent.
  • For Child(ren): Dinner, childcare, and age-appropriate activities will be provided by the Cornell Child Care Center. Children from infants to age 12 are welcome.

CU-CIRTL:
Massive Open Online Course on STEM Teaching


 

The Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) Network is offering a massive open online course (MOOC) on teaching science, technology, engineering, and mathematics from September 28 - November 19 through Coursera. Funding and resources are available to those interested in leading weekly discussions around the CIRTL MOOC.

The CIRTL Network will be hosting weekly 60-minute webinars on teaching and professional development each Wednesday from 1-2 pm starting September 9.Bring your lunch and join us in 341 Caldwell for group viewings with drinks and snacks provided. Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad (DDRA) Fellowships  
(October 2016-March 2018)

The application for the 2016 Fulbright-Hays DDRA fellowship may open late fall 2015. Applicants are strongly advised to contact the Einaudi Center to indicate their intention to apply and to arrange individual counseling sessions with Cornell's Fulbright-Hays DDRA advisors, Gil Levine and Mike Walter.

In fact, half of the tech team are proud Cornell alumnae, and they recruit heavily from Cornell.

Cornelia Ye Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award

  

The Center for Teaching Excellence invites Cornell graduate students to apply for the Cornelia Ye Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. The Cornelia Ye Award annually honors two outstanding teaching assistants, at least one of whom is international, who have clearly demonstrated excellence and dedication in their instructional responsibilities to students at Cornell University, thereby enhancing undergraduate and graduate education at Cornell.
