Research Travel Grant Applications
The Graduate School will award grants to graduate students for spring and summer 2014 research-related travel. Applications are due to the Graduate School (350 Caldwell Hall) by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 1 for spring or summer travel. (If the deadline falls on a weekend, applications are due the following Monday.)

The thesis and dissertation submission deadline is January 10, 2014 for students planning to graduate in January 2014. All theses and dissertations must be submitted, reviewed, and approved in Graduation Manager by noon on January 10, 2014.

Early Termination Option for Student Health Insurance
All students who are enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) prior to the start of the second semester automatically remain enrolled in the SHIP until 11:59 a.m. on August 16. However, there is an option for early termination.
Who is eligible?
- Fall graduates with a program completion date on or before January 31.
- Students who withdraw from the university before the start of the spring semester.
- Students who register in absentia for the spring semester.
- Students who have an on leave date after September 17 and before January 31.

Global Governance Futures Program: Deadline February 10, 2014
Cornell students and alumni are invited to apply to the Global Governance Futures: Robert Bosch Foundation Multilateral Dialogues program. 25 individuals from Germany, China, Japan, India and the United States will be selected to form three working groups that focus on internet governance, geoengineering governance, or the future of global arms control. Over the course of 2014 and 2015, during four dialogue sessions that take place in the five participating countries, the working groups will produce scenarios toward 2025 and develop concrete policy suggestions to address global challenges.

Registration Open for the Expanding Your Job Search Skills Workshop
Workshop Date: Wednesday, January 15
Time: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
If you are a doctoral student interested in a career outside of academia, attend this intensive workshop to learn about interviewing skills, the art of career networking, resources for your job search, how to develop a resume from your CV, and more. Pre-registration is required and is limited to doctoral students at any stage of their studies who are considering a job search outside the academy.
To sign up for the program, go into your CCNet account (http://cornell-students.experience.com/experience/login) and click on "Career Center Calendar" at the Calendar tab. Click on 01/15/2014, and look for the Employer Workshop/Special Event called "Expanding Your Job Search Skills Workshop." Click on the event name, and at the next screen simply click on "Sign up."

Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship (deadline January 10, 2014)
Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship provides opportunities for U.S. citizens to serve in professional placements in a foreign government ministry or institution in partner governments. Fulbright-Clinton Fellows build mutual understanding and contribute to strengthening the public sector while gaining hands-on public sector experience. The Fulbright-Clinton Fellowship also includes an independent academic study/research component.
Fulbright-Clinton Fellows function in a "special assistant" role for a senior level official. The goal of the professional placements is to build the Fellows' knowledge and skills, provide support to partner country institutions, and promote long-term ties between the U.S. and the partner country. The U.S. Embassy, with the Fulbright Commission (where applicable), will identify host ministries and provide administrative support and oversight during the Fellow's program.

Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship (DPDF) Program (Pre-dissertation)
The Dissertation Proposal Development Fellowship (DPDF) program supports graduate students in formulating effective doctoral dissertation research proposals that contribute to the development of interdisciplinary fields of study in the humanities and social sciences.
The DPDF Program offers two competitions for each fellowship cycle: - The Faculty Field Competition, held each fall to select research fields and faculty research directors who will lead the trainings during the fellowship year; and
- The Student Fellowship Competition, held each winter to select students who will participate in the training program.

Buttrick-Crippen Fellowship
The John S. Knight Institute for Writing in the Disciplines at Cornell University is accepting applications for the Buttrick-Crippen Fellowship. This teaching fellowship provides a full year of support during which the Fellow can devote him- or herself to the study and practice of teaching composition within and beyond the context of his or her discipline. Supporting materials should be submitted (101 McGraw Hall) by January 8, 2014.

Cornell-Heidelberg Exchange Fellowships for the 2014-2015 Academic Year
Two Exchange Fellowships for study at the University of Heidelberg/Germany carry tuition and fees plus a monthly stipend of 700 Euro for ten months. In addition, the University of Heidelberg will cover the fees for a preparatory language course beginning in September (participants will receive an additional monthly stipend) and, if desired, for a language course that is offered throughout the academic year.
The German academic year customarily runs from mid-October to mid-July with a two month break from mid-February to mid-April between semesters.
The competition is open to graduating seniors and current graduate students, from all academic units in the university (students interested in taking courses at the school of medicine should contact Professor Paul Fleming, pf239@cornell.edu, immediately). Applicants must have a good knowledge of the German language (e.g. advanced/B2 level) by the beginning of the German academic year in October.
Application material must include CV (complete with local address, telephone number and e-mail address), transcript, a brief rationale for study abroad (circa 1- 2 pages, single-spaced), one letter of recommendation from a professor in the student's field, and the completed application form (contact Miriam Zubal, 183 Goldwin Smith Hall (255-4047, mz17@cornell.edu) to request the application form).
