Financial Planning

Do you need help with financial planning?  

 

The Graduate School has a new and free service available to all graduate and professional students through ClearPoint Counseling Services.  In addition to confidential personal financial counseling, there are free online courses to address topics such as budgeting, wise use of credit, surviving financial setbacks, paying down debt, avoiding identify theft, among others.

January 2013 Degree Candidates 

The tenth annual December Recognition Event for January '13 Graduates will be held on Saturday, December 15th, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception from 11:15 a.m. - noon.

 

This is a special event enjoyed by students and families.  There is no limit to the number of guests who may attend the event and there are no tickets.


If you plan to attend, you must:

 

 

Please arrive at Barton Hall by 9:15 a.m. on 12/15, wearing your cap and gown and carrying your hood.  You will check-in and assemble for the procession. PhD candidates will be hooded on the stage.

My Mentor has 25 Functions?  Exploring the Team Mentoring Concept  

Can one mentor serve all functions needed to be a successful graduate student?  The purpose of this session is to empower students to identify different mentoring needs (i.e. discipline, career consultant and professional development) that graduate students should seek from the beginning of their career.  Come prepared with specific experiences to share and discuss.

Graduate Research Travel Grants

 

The Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies International Research Travel Grants provide support for students conducting short-term research and/or fieldwork in countries outside the United States any time during the period April 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014. Eligible are students enrolled in an approved course of study at Cornell University leading to a Masters or PhD degree. The application process is now open and the deadline for the on-line submission of applications is February 4, 2013.

2013 Smithsonian Institution Fellowship Program 


The Smithsonian Institution encourages access to its collections, staff specialties, and reference resources by visiting scholars, scientists, and students. Postdoctoral, senior, predoctoral, and graduate student fellowships are available.   


Proposals should fall under at least one of the Smithsonian Institution's four grand challenges: Unlocking the Mysteries of the Universe; Understanding and Sustaining a Biodiverse Planet; Valuing World Cultures; and/or Understanding the American Experience.

Grants for Summer Study in Germany

University Summer Course Grant

 

This  program provides scholarships to attend a broad range of three- to  four-week summer courses at German universities which focus mainly on  German language and literary, cultural, political and economic aspects  of modern and contemporary Germany. Extensive extracurricular programs  complement and reinforce the core material.  
 
 Intensive Language Course Grant


 DAAD  offers grants to graduate students at North American universities to  attend 8-week intensive language courses at leading institutes in  Germany.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) 


Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE professional) is designed for recent graduates, Master's and PhD students, and alumni of the RISE program who are matched with a well-known German company, where they gain insight into the professional applications of science and engineering and develop practical skills. Internships can last from one-and-a-half to six months. This program features a scholarship to cover living expenses. Online registration is currently available. L'Oreal USA Fellowships for Women in Science (FWIS) 


The L'Oreal USA Fellowships for Women in Science (FWIS) program, a national awards program that annually recognizes and rewards U.S.-based women researchers at the beginning of their scientific careers. Five recipients receive up to $60,000 each that they must put towards their postdoctoral research.
