PAUL SOGLIN VETOES CITY BILLBOARD LEGISLATION

Mayor Paul Soglin has vetoed an ordinance revision recently approved by the City Council that lets advertisers take down billboards, get credit for the square footage, and erect a billboard of the same size in a different approved location.

FOCUS ON DANE COUNTY: AS CITY GROWS EAST, FITCHBURG PLANS TO MOVE BOTH FIRE STATIONS

The Fitchburg City Council has set aside $12.5 million for land purchases and design and construction of two fire stations, which are expected to open in 2016 and 2017.

After nearly an hour of discussion about the parking and the newly added requirement of 100,000 square feet or more of private office space, members of the city's Board of Estimates on Monday sought final wording of the proposal request before sending it to the City Council with a recommendation.

DANE COUNTY HOME SALES RISE FOR SECOND TIME IN 2014, BUT REMAIN DOWN FOR YEAR
 

December sales of existing homes were up 3.5 percent over December 2013, after a 1.7% rise in November.
