MAYOR PAUL SOGLIN PROPOSES $20 MILLION AFFORDABLE HOUSING INITIATIVE 

 

Proposal, which intends to support development of 750 units of housing for the homeless and people with low incomes over the next five years, gets early rave reviews.

PAUL SOGLIN PROPOSES MOVING AHEAD ON PUBLIC PARTS OF JUDGE HOYLE SQUARE WHILE NEGOTIATIONS ON PRIVATE ELEMENTS CONTINUE

Mayor Paul Soglin will propose renovating the landmark Madison Municipal Building and replacing the obsolete Government East parking garage public spaces next year, while the city continues negotiations with a developer to team on a much larger project on those two Downtown blocks.

Sticker shock over the public cost for building a hotel at Judge Doyle Square in downtown Madison has eroded support for that aspect of the project to the point that it's difficult to find a City Council member willing to publicly voice support for it.
