UW-Madison would be able to pay its next chancellor a bigger salary and admit a higher percentage of out-of-state students under proposals that won unanimous support from UW Board of Regents committees on Thursday. Final votes on both measures will come before the full board Friday.

HOSTEL PROPOSED FOR WALKER'S POINT  

 

A hostel-style hotel is being proposed for the Walker's Point neighborhood.

Third Coast Inn, 602 S. 3rd St., would feature 18 beds within five rooms, as well as a kitchen, laundry room, two bathrooms and other common areas for guests, according to a proposal filed with the Milwaukee Board of Zoning Appeals. The rooms would feature dormitory-style bunk beds.

Over the past few years, there's been discussion about the possible relocation of Astronautics Corp. of America's headquarters from Milwaukee's north side to the former Pabst brewery.

HOUSE BILL PASSES WITH SS BADGER GO-AHEAD STRIPPED OUT  

 

The last coal-powered ferry in the United States was dealt a setback Wednesday in a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives, which stripped out language that would have allowed the Lake Michigan-crossing ship to keep operating.
