The city of Madison took the state railroad commissioner's office to court Tuesday over its decision to close two East Side railroad crossings, calling the decision "arbitrary and capricious" and "too generic."

 TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT SEEKS DELAY ON ZOO INTERCHANGE CONSTRUCTION 

 

The state Department of Transportation is proposing to dramatically reduce reconstruction work on the Zoo Interchange over the next two years, pushing back completion of the overall project from 2018 to 2020.

 CITY EARMARKS FUNDS FOR UPKEEP OF FORECLOSED HOMES

 

A Milwaukee Common Council committee recommended that $400,000 more be set aside for the upkeep of foreclosed properties. The city has taken over 980 foreclosed homes, and the number is growing.

MIAD'S STUDENT HOUSING PLAN WINS CONCEPTUAL APPROVAL

 

A proposed apartment building that would house just over 300 students from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design is proceeding, with a planned construction start in spring of 2013.

 FINANCING PLAN FOR MAYFAIR COLLECTION WINS FINAL CITY APPROVALS

 

A proposal to provide up to $8.5 million in city funds to help develop the Mayfair Collection shopping center has won final city approval.

INDOOR TRAMPLINE PARK PROPOSED IN NEW BERLIN 


An indoor trampoline park, a first for Wisconsin, is being proposed in New Berlin. The 25,000-square-foot facility, known as Helium Trampoline Park, would operate at 16235 W. Beloit Road, in a light industrial building that is currently being built by Zilber Property Group, according to information filed with the city Department of Community Development. Helium would lease that space from Zilber.

A Grafton couple who own a condo near the planned future home of a Meijer supermarket and discount store has filed a lawsuit seeking to block that development. Jack and Michelle Corrao claim the value of their property will be hurt by the 191,352-square-foot store, to be built on 33 acres east of Port Washington Road and south of the Home Depot and OfficeMax stores. That site is near the I-43/Highway 60 interchange.
