NEED HOST! Souper Saturday - April 9, 6-8pm
The next Souper Saturday is scheduled for April 9 but we are in need of a host! Please let Pastor Ginny or Linda Betsch know if you are willing to open your home to 15-20 people for an evening of soup and socializing. Host provides soup; Guests bring appetizers, sides, drinks.

April 8 Anti-Racism Training
Join Pastor Ginny at SURJ Hartford for our first Member Meeting on April 8th! We, as the Hartford chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), are building a base of committed White folks to challenge and transform racism on all levels.
Our shared purpose: As we strive to dismantle white supremacy, we mobilize white people to show up to public, political actions for racial justice. We do so as accountable partners in this work, following the lead of local and national activists of color. White racial justice activists need connection to sustain courage and hope. We need to know there are other white people, like us, who will take risks, make mistakes, and learn. We need other white people to lean on when we are discouraged, and to share our excitement with! Racial justice movements, including Black Lives Matter and others, need a constituency of accountable white racial justice activists who are connected, hopeful, and many.

Join us on April 8th to begin the work (and fun!) of finding each other and building a base of courageous white people showing up for racial justice

Schedule:
5:30-6:00PM: Arrival, Registration and Refreshments
6:00-7:00PM: Intro, Community Building, and Anti-Racism
7:00-8:00PM: Working Groups to begin planning and implementing goals as SURJ. Groups include: Education, Action, Base-Building, in addition to creating space for affinity groups to organize their constituencies
Bring yourself, bring friends, and stay in touch.

The Dessert Auction was a  huge success! Almost $4,000 was raised. Thank you to everyone for making desserts, for attending, for bidding, and for donating. We are a larger youth group now, so the additional monies raised should help us get everyone to DC this summer!
NOTE:  We weren't sure who made each dessert that showed up, so though you may not have gotten thanked, please know that we appreciate the trouble, time and effort you spent making a dessert for this event.  We are so grateful for the support this church shows every year for the youth!
