First Edition
Let's Journey Together!

trans·fig·u·ra·tion (noun)
  • a complete change of form or appearance into a more beautiful or spiritual state. "In this light the junk undergoes a transfiguration; it shines."
  • Christ's appearance in radiant glory to three of his disciples (Mark 9:2-3)
The disciples were so overcome when they recognized the spiritual profundity of Jesus that they wanted to build a shrine to preserve the moment for ever. Transfiguration Sunday, the last Sunday before the "dry" season of Lent, provides a kind of spiritual boost as we consider what it means to bear the light of God down off the mountaintop and into the world. See you in worship! (Remember, kids start downstairs with Rebecca for Sunday Schoolhouse but join the adults for communion.)

Based on the book by the same name by Eric Elnes, we will try to see experiences such as failure, emptiness, loss, and uncertainty through new eyes. Rather than being negative, these experiences are entirely unavoidable... and seen in a certain light can reveal clues to our life path. How can the struggles of life be the seedbed of spiritual awakening to the fullness of life? Come on Feb. 10 and find out.

This Sunday at 10am, in the SchoolHouse...
We learn about the beginnings of the African American faith tradition.  It emerged first during slavery in secret gatherings in the woods, away from the watchful eye of the plantation owner.  These meetings were a place where the slave felt free to express him/herself in praise or despair.
In Faith Ed... So, let's talk Jesus. What seemed important to him? What should be important to us, and how do we live that way in 2016?  We begin a series of discussions on his Sermon on the Mount, his parables, his commandments, and some of his encounters with people.

<<<<<<CHECK THIS OUT!
One year ago we were stripping off wall paper,
painting and
making B 14 into a youth room.
Last Sunday,
there were 31 people in that room...
some on the floor, on laps, on pillows, on stools,
and a couple standing.
A HUGE thank you to this church
for your investment in the youth,
through money, staffing, and "place to be".
