First Edition
Let's Journey Together!
CAFE CHURCH Sunday
Faith is like... the internet
Rev. Eric Anderson, a long-time CT Conference staff member and seminary classmate of Pastor Ginny, will join our summer series, Faith is like, with one of his favorite topics, technology and the internet. Special music will include our homegrown barbershop quartet (Christi, Jerron, Ginny and Kevin) singing the Manhattan Transfer favorite "Operator," and all will have a chance to weigh in on the possibilities... and problems... of life with the internet. What does this new can't-live-without-it technology reveal about the life of faith?

About our trip to WEST VIRGINIA:

We came, we drilled, climbed, cleaned, sanded, sawed, measured, replaced a kitchen, built a wheel chair ramp, created a porch, and installed new flooring and a toilet.  Life is a little better for the families we served, and we are a little better for going....

  • No meetings this week.
  • Pic up unclaimed items from the basement hallway.
  • Thanks to all who are helping with the "Big Sort" in the basement!
  • West Virginia adult chaperons meet Sunday, Aug 23, at 6PM with Ginny and Rebecca for the trip debrief.

Our NEW SUNDAY SCHOOLHOUSE is coming together!

Thanks to Sherry & Kevin Kittelsen, Hank Prussing, our middle school boys, and everyone who is helping with the basement renovation!

THE GATHERING ROOM/ Brick room will be a performance space for Sunday mornings to feature youth talent, explore cool themes, watch & discuss videos, and try out student ideas (new and untried?) for church in our times!

THE TWO BREAKOUT ROOMS:  One for our HANDS and one for our HEADS.       Hands-on work with crafts, sewing, painting, constructing, or learning a skill.

Head-work (& Heart-work) through discussion, internet research, you-tube videos, debate, what-ifs, drama, dance, and yoga.

GODLY PLAY ROOM and the NURSERY are also being remodeled.

AND ALL THESE ROOMS should be ready by Apple Fest!

 AppleFest is September 19th

Fall is on its way and, with it, our biggest fundraiser of the year. The Connections Committee is busy at work planning our 4th AppleFest. We will have some of the attractions that have made our event bigger every year... creative crafters and vendors, an elaborate bake sale and a lunch station with out-of-this-world chili and soups. Our very popular tag sale will start earlier this year for early-bird shoppers, and of course our famous cheese bread, baked by First Church men-and-friends is always a highlight. New this year will be raffled-off themed gift baskets that we hope everyone will help with. Please sign up on the volunteer list outside of Cook Hall if you can lend a hand. Contact anyone on Connections if you have questions.

You may donate items to the Tag Sale
Sept. 13-18 ONLY
We will not accept books, VHS videos or clothes.

Summer Church Office Hours are 9-1, Monday through Thursday
