This Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Due to the current weather forecast of rain on Sunday, we'll probably be worshiping in Cook Hall at the summer worship hour.  Bring your sociable pets on leash or in containers for this annual service of blessing and remembrance. And we'll recognize and bless graduates too!
NOTE SUMMER START TIME! 
 
 FIRST "TGIF" - TONIGHT (June 19), 6-8pm 
Pastor Ginny & Doug's, 10R Greenwoods Rd., North Granby 
In the Summer, we gather every Friday evening at a church member's home from 6pm to 8pm to celebrate TGIF. Friends and family are welcome! Bring a snack and beverage to share. Note: Not all Fridays are spoken for - If you would like to host - or need transportation, Sign up outside Church kitchen, email or call Linda Betsch 860-653-0744.  

       

Sunday Schoolhouse

Sunday School will not meet during the summer but there will be exciting things going on in the basement as we renovate the rooms to be ready for fall. Get excited>>>>>!

 

G Crew will meet this Sunday, June 21st at 7:30pm.   Summer meetings will be on Sundays but at a later time - 7:30 pm.

WE ARE LOOKING  for church members who are willing to teach construction skills to our teens - in preparation for our Mission Trip August 8- 15th.   Anything from hammers (how to drive and remove nails) to drills and circular saws.  Please let Rebecca know if you are available on a Sunday afternoon or evening to help teach us!  or call Rebecca> 352-745-6644

 

Union Service, June 28, 9:30am
Rebecca
will be preaching at the Union Service at South Church on June 28th.  She will be discussing the difference between a faith that leans outside ourselves and a faith that empowers from within. 
 

"One-Anothering"

Several people have asked for a copy of the sermon "One-Anothering" from this past Sunday, in which Pastor Ginny described hearing Ali Abu  Awwad and Rabi Hanan Schlesinger talk about peace in the Middle East. You can read the sermon here 

 

 
Honoring Our Graduates 

We would like to recognize our graduating seniors during worship on June 21. If you have a graduate in your household, please contact the Church office at 860-653-4537 or email with his/her full name, the school from which he/she is graduating and news regarding plans after graduation (college, military, employment, etc).

We will meet around tables for discussion, coffee, and conversation on weekly themes.  It will be informal and welcoming to children and families!

Westfield Soup Kitchen 
First Church has a regular commitment three times a year to prepare and serve a meal at Our Community Table in Westfield.  Our next date is Wednesday, July 1. Consider helping out!  For details, contact Laura Seger-Horan 

It's that time again... BLOCK PARTY on South Marshall Street JULY 14, 4pm-7pm 

Organizers continue to collect bikes (goal - 100), and children's books (goal -1200) to give away. So far, 24 organizations have asked to participate  - providing information as well as  activities for children. Contact Nancy Rion to volunteer or for further information.


Crib donation needed!  
The Hartford Maternal and Infant Outreach Program (which we support through the Covenant to Care) has a need for a newer crib (built within the last 5 years to meet new safety standards), for a pregnant mother who recently relocated with two children to Hartford.  The program also will take other gently used furniture and household items. Please contact the program at 860-757-4820 to make arrangements to deliver your donation (or call the church office if you need help).  
 
Come for breakfast - Stay for lunch!
Breakfast is served Sunday mornings starting at 8:30am in Cook Hall.  Lunch is served hot or to-go following worship. Often there is a gluten-free offering available - if interested, ask the cooks! Please NOTE: No breakfast or lunch will be served on June 28 - Union Service is at South Congregational Church.
 

Please bring back your to-go lunch containers so they can be recycled.
