June 7th is the Youth Service
W
e sing and lead the service with music and our Resurrection theme. And G Crew says "Thank you"  for the support we've had from the church this year.  SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK will lead us in songs you may know... "Here Comes the
Sun" by the Beatles and "Shine" by Collective Soul.  If you don't know them, WE WILL TEACH YOU!  Every body sings on Sunday!!

  

Congregational Meeting
Following worship, the congregation will meet to elect new officers for the 2015-16 year. Have you thought about how you'd like to be involved?

Thank you Scott Tracy, Jim Brown, and Molly Gallant for taking your Saturday to drive us in and spend the day. AND to our church... for buying STOCK in our mission trip.

G CREW Parents meet after worship and congregational meeting this Sunday to notarize forms for the mission trip (& have lunch?)   G CREW meets 6 - 8 with a meal provided by Kayla and her mom.

Sight Unseen: Guiding Eyes for the Blind

Monday, June 15, 2-4pm, Workshop at Holcomb Farm
Representatives (human and canine) of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a national organization that breeds, raises, trains and provides guide dogs to visually impaired persons, will share the story of this remarkable organization, its dogs, and the people who have been blessed by its work.


Admission is free, but registration is requested.

STRAWBERRY SUPPER, June 13

Mark your calendar to attend an "Old-Fashioned Strawberry Supper." We'll have ham, potato salad, baked beans and strawberry shortcake with Connecticut-grown strawberries and fresh whipped cream. Make your reservations for the 5:00 or 6:00 seating by calling the church office, signing up outside of Cook Hall, or here. Save the date! $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and kids. 

  

KIC Kids Needed to help with the Community Strawberry Supper

Who likes strawberries and whipped cream? Saturday June 13th, First Church is hosting a Strawberry Supper Fundraiser, and we need your help! Come to Cook Hall between 4 and 4:30 Saturday and stay until 7 or 7:30. We'll be helping to sell tickets, greet and seat guests, and clear tables. Kids will eat dinner at the 6:00 seating as a group or can sit with family, if attending.

 

Please  e-mail or call Linda Smyth at 860-653-5885 to let her know who will be coming. This is a great opportunity to volunteer with other church members and show Granby what a great group of people we are.

June 13 at 2 pm: "Buddhism in Japan" at Hartford Seminary 

June 28 at 6 pm: "Taste of Ramadan" at West Hartford Town Hall

The Muslim Coalition of Connecticut offers a Ramadan "breaking of the fast" and explores fasting traditions from Muslim, Christian, and Jewish perspectives. 

 

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS... 7-15-12 Service
June 21, 9:30 a.m.
Bring your sociable pets (on leash or in containers) for this annual service of blessing and remembrance. And we'll recognize and bless graduates too! Worship will take place on the south lawn behind the church, weather permitting. Special music celebrates all of creation! NOTE SUMMER START TIME! 

Tapestry Singers, June 6 & 7 

The Tapestry Singers present "We Are Called..." this weekend! Kevin Kittelsen, Laura Murach, and Becca Hayes participate in this incredible musical group and would love to share the experience with you. You are guaranteed a wonderful and worthwhile time. There is no admission fee, but there will be a free-will offering to benefit the Kateri Medical Clinic in Nigeria, Africa. TWO PERFORMANCES: 

Saturday, June 6 at 7 pm and Sunday, June 7 at 2 pm

Trinity Church, 11 Church Street, Tariffville

Repertoire includes Rodgers & Hammerstein, Billy Joel, Broadway, religious, patriotic, folk songs, and more! Hope to see your smiling face in the audience! 


Honoring Our Graduates 
We would like to recognize our graduating seniors during worship on June 21. If you have a graduate in your household, please contact the Church office at 860-653-4537 or email sue@firstchurchgranby.org with his/her full name, the school from which he/she is graduating and news regarding plans after graduation (college, military, employment, etc).

Still seeking donations - furniture and household items 
The Hartford Maternal and Infant Outreach Program (which we support through the Covenant to Care) has an ongoing need for gently used furniture and household items to help furnish clients' apartments. Please contact the program at 860-757-4820 to make arrangements to deliver your donations (or call the church office if you need help). 
 
Come for breakfast - Stay for lunch!
Breakfast is served Sunday mornings from 8:30am to 10am in Cook Hall.  Lunch is served hot or to-go following worship. Often there is a gluten-free offering available - if interested, ask the cooks!

Please bring back your to-go lunch containers so they can be recycled.
