This week's destination: "A New Identity"

In response to The Hartford Courant article "Sadness, But Hope" (Feb. 13) regarding the prayer service to remember three Muslim students killed last week, purportedly over a disputed parking space, Don Shaw wrote the following Letter to the Editor, published Feb 14:

"As a friend of the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut and a longtime Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity board member, I attended Friday's prayer service at the Berlin mosque to pay my respects for the three young Muslims slain in North Carolina. They were model Americans -- inspiring students, community volunteers, aspiring healers, and loved by many. They represented what we hope for in our sons and daughters.

"For many years I have worked with Muslim volunteers building Habitat homes, as well as creating Habitat collaborations fostering interfaith understanding, respect and trust. At Hartford Habitat, we "come together to build together." Let's honor the lives of the three young American Muslims, and all victims of discrimination, violence and hate, by coming together to build a better Connecticut, a better America, and a better world.
