Let's Journey Together!
Korean Partnership marks 20 years!
This weekend the Connecticut Conference welcomes six pastors from the Kyung-Ki Presbytery, Presbyterian Church of Korea, our partners in ministry for 20 years. Two of them, Rev. Lee and Rev. Cho, will be our guests in worship on Sunday, bringing greetings on behalf of the Presbytery.

During the 1990s the UCC entered many ecumenical partnerships but no one understood at the time what it would take to sustain a relationship with such differences in language, culture, and heritage! Several other UCC Conferences, from across the country, also entered into partnerships with Korean churches and 20 years later ours is the only one still in existence.

Why has our partnership thrived? FRIENDSHIP! Talk to Kelly or Nate or Devin, who participated in the "Sacred Journey" exchange this past summer. Talk to Marge Gardow and Mary Chicoine and Mark Karlson who traveled with me this past April and to Kris McManus who made the trip in 2012. In 20 years more than 400 people have made the trip to visit the other country and have brought back precious insights about what we share. The partnership has thrived because we have made the idea personal.

In the Gospel of John, Jesus prays for his disciples "that they may all be one." That is the motto of the United Church of Christ and it equally well symbolizes the commitment we have in our partnership with the Kyung-Ki Presbytery, as our Korean partners continue to pray for peace on the Korean Peninsula.

From the Financial Secretary

The latest statements, either handed out or soon to be mailed, include only information related to your pledges. It does not contain any information on donations and or payments you may have made that have been attributed to other categories (memorial gifts, G-Crew Mission trip donations, Neighbors in Need, etc.) You will get a complete list of all items on the 2014 year end statement that will be sent out in January 2015. That statement will include all monies given to the church. As for donations made to the Kids Campaign, the amount of over/under may not be correct. This is due to difficulties with the program we use and the fact that the campaign is a 3 year commitment spread over 4 years. The actual dollar amount given should be correct. I hope this has not created too much confusion.
