Stormwater Utility Becomes Effective July 1

On May 12, Roanoke City Council adopted a stormwater utility fee to comply with new Virginia Stormwater Management Regulations and increasing Federal Clean Water Act stormwater permit requirements. Those fees take effect on July 1 for homeowners, as well as commercial, industrial, institutional, and multifamily residential properties.  Click here to read more.

Meet Roanoke's First Stormwater Manager

On May 27, Dwayne D'Ardenne took over as Roanoke's first stormwater manager.  D'Ardenne came to the city in 2000 as a landscape coordinator for Parks and Recreation.  In April of 2008, he became street and landscape superintendent for the Pubic Works Transportation Division.  Now, a new journey begins. Click here to read more.

Stormwater Credits Available

The process for applying for credits is detailed in the two Stormwater Utility Fee Credit Manuals; one covers single family residential properties and the other commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-family residential properties. The city has also published the Roanoke Stormwater Ideabook which discusses many options for homeowners to better manage stormwater runoff.

While the deadline for applying credits for this year has expired, property owners are encouraged to submit credit applications at any time.
