Transformation of Market Square Underway


In January, crews began work on Market Square. The area between Center and the Square and 202 Market is being transformed into a more pedestrian-friendly area. The renovation will also make Farmers' Market stalls and business storefronts more visible to those passing by. Read more about the project.

New Park Opens at Countryside

 

What was once a golf course is now Roanoke's newest public park. After months of work, crews have finished the new playground, picnic shelter, half-mile fitness loop, and extension of the Lick Run Greenway.  Read more about the new park.

Students Learn How to Get a Library Card

 

"A house without books is like a room without windows." That sentiment was expressed by Horace Mann, an 18th Century American education reformer and U.S. Congressman.  Roanoke City Public Schools and Roanoke Public Libraries heartily agree.
