This year the city added a new element of citizen participation to the budget process. A Citizen Budget Academy of 13 members met with city Budget and Finance staff, and the Assistant City Manager for Operations on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Roanoke Higher Education Center to learn about the budget process, and major revenues and expenditures. The Academy will reconvene in March and April to review budget information for FY2014 and provide feedback on programs and services.
