A New Road: Technology Improves City Streets

 

When driving on a city street, technology may not be the first word that pops into your head. But, maybe it should be. The city's Transportation Division is using today's technology in a number of innovative ways to maximize Roanoke's transportation routes, making them safe, energy-efficient, and easier to travel. Want to know more? Putting the (Tire) Pressure on Savings

 

Looking for ways to save money on gas and tire maintenance for your car? So is the City of Roanoke. About a year ago, Fleet Maintenance staff heard about a new approach which involves filling tires with nitrogen instead of air. Learning that this practice can reduce the amount of gas used and can extend the life of the tires up to 30 percent, the decision was made to "test drive" this method with the tires on city vehicles. Click here to find out more.
