President's Corner

Our officer elections for the term May 2014 through April 2016 are completed and I am happy to say that not only do we have a full slate of officers and delegates but we have some new faces as well as some shifting of positions. I am confident that this is one of strongest Officers groups we've ever had and I am looking forward to working with them dealing with the ongoing issues facing our membership and the local.

I am going to take this time to remind us all that the culmination and affirmation of our student's hard work is commencement and individual convocations. These events are important to our students and they are happy when they see us at these events. It is also one of the few chances we get to meet the families of our students. Few events afford us these opportunities and not only am I looking forward to meeting my students and their families I am looking forward to seeing you all in our academic regalia celebrating the students who are graduating and moving on to a new phase of their life experiences. In my mind it is one of the most important activities that we engage in.

I also look forward to seeing you around campus free from our overcoats and hopefully I'll see you this Wednesday at the next General Union meeting. There are some important items on the agenda not the least of which is seeing our scholarship recipients and giving them a chance to thank each of you in person for our support. We know this money makes a big difference to them.

It is spring at last!

In solidarity,

Rich
