Mildred Abraham (MS, CCI, '66), a retired University of Virginia librarian in the special collections department, created the nonprofit Book Baskets organization which donates books to children. Book Baskets has received grants from community organizations, including the Dave Matthews Band's Bama Works Fund, and distributes books to a variety of locations.
Kim Braun (MS, '08) presented "Outreach Books Clubs: Venturing
Outside the Library Walls," a webinar for librarians hosted by the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA). Ms. Braun was the Head of Reference and Adult Services at the J. Lewis Crozer (Public) Library in Chester, Pennsylvania. She is currently a prospect researcher in the Widener University Development Office. She served as past Secretary of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Library Association.
Megan Carrington (MS, '11) was named Director of the Paul Smith Library of Southern York County. Prior to her current position, she was the Director of Archives and Library at Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia.
Chris Cera (BS, '04; MS, '04) was named as one of the 2014 �40 Under 40� by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Mr. Cera was also selected by the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the recipients of the 2014 Top IT Pros Award and was named the �Startup Tech Star�. He is the founder and CTO of Vuzit, a Philadelphia-based software company. He is also the founder and Chief Technology Officer of his own startup, Arcweb, a web and mobile product design and development company in Philadelphia.
Sam Chenkin (BS/MS, '11), Director of Solution Development for Tech Impact, was interviewed in an article in techsoup.org. He also taught a webinar "Office 365 For Nonprofits: a DYI Overview." Tech Impact, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit, provides technology support and cloud services to nonprofits, charities, and NGOs around the world.
Kathleen Coon (MS, '82) was appointed Local Arrangements Committee co-chair for the July 2015 American Association of Law Libraries' (AALL) 108th Annual Meeting, an educational event for legal information professionals which draws more than 3,000 AALL member librarians, vendors and other industry members. In her role as co-chair, Ms. Coon will work to manage the local logistics and event planning for the event to be held in Philadelphia. Ms. Coon is Director of Library Services at Montgomery McCracken, a law firm with more than 120 attorneys in offices in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Delaware.
Christine Finn (MS, '13), Library Media Specialist at Cedar Creek High School, was selected as the school's teacher of the year. Ms. Finn began her teaching career 20 years ago as a history instructor before switching to her current role. She has been employed by the Greater Egg Harbor Regional School District for 14 years, including the last four years at Cedar Creek.
Jeremy Glesner (MS, '13) was featured in an executive profile on the GovCon Executive website. Mr. Glesner serves as Chief Technology Officer at the software and analysis firm Berico Technologies, a company he helped start in 2006.
