The operator of the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Laie, Lodging Dynamics, is seeking applicants for the position of General Manager, and is encouraging qualified individuals in our community to apply.
"It will be some months before we actually extend an offer to a candidate, but because it's important to get the right person in place to lead the hotel in the local community, we are getting an early start on our candidate search," said Arthur Holman, vice president of operations for Lodging Dynamics. "We'll conduct interviews with local applicants in the coming months."
Holman explained that other key positions will soon be posted as well. "There will be other management opportunities made available as we approach the hotel opening date, such as Director of Sales, Assistant General Manager, Executive Housekeeper, and Chief Engineer."

Hotel Construction Update
Some residents have wondered, what's been happening behind the black dust screen at the construction site of the Laie Courtyard by Marriott hotel?
Answer: Construction workers have been busy preparing the foundation and first floor for the new hotel. Underground piping and electrical conduits were recently installed for the first floor, and contractors have just begun the big job of pouring the first floor concrete slab.
Layton Construction is the general contractor on the hotel project, and local subcontractors, such as MEI Construction, are working on the project.

"Work has steadily progressed during the last several weeks," said Larry Wintermantel, Project Superintendent for Layton Construction Co.
"Our concrete pour for the slab and foundations began on the 14th and will continue over the next few days. It will total out to about 200 truckloads over a five-day duration."

In coming weeks and months residents will start to see more activity over the dust screen as above ground work begins. We'll continue to provide updates as construction work progresses.
McDonald's Relocation Moving Ahead
Plans to relocate the McDonald's restaurant from its previous site to its new location along Kamehameha Highway just north of the Laie Hotel are moving along.
Land manager Hawaii Reserves, Inc., has executed a ground lease with McDonald's, building permits for the new restaurant have been filed by McDonald's, and those permits are now being processed by the City Department of Planning & Permitting.
