Aloha ,
Last night the Ko'olauloa Neighborhood Board voted to support the Ko'olauloa Sustainable Communities Plan (KSCP). The vote came in after a previous presentation by Pane Meatoga Jr., president of the Laie Community Association, public testimony and board discussion.
The KSCP includes some Envision Laie proposals, such as additional housing, growth for BYU-Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
"The Ko'olauloa community cares. That is why those of us who live and work here continue to show up and support sensible solutions," said Meatoga. "This plan represents compromise and balance. We didn't get all that we asked of the City, but the process has given voice to the hopes and concerns of everyone in the community."

Ko'olauloa Neighborhood Board members who voted in support of the plan were Kahuku representative Kerry Moeai; Laie representatives Kela Miller, Verla Moore and Hans Taala; and Hauula representatives Larry Nihipali and Norman Thompson. Discussion and testimony focused on much-needed housing in the Laie-Malaekahana area, creating job opportunities for local residents, and the needs of major area employers such as Brigham Young University-Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center.

The KSCP is currently before the Honolulu City Council where public hearings on the plan are expected to resume in coming weeks. We will keep everyone informed as it moves forward.
Mahalo,
The Envision Lā'ie Team
