Last night residents had yet another opportunity to provide input on the city's Ko'olau Loa Sustainable Communities Plan (KSCP) -- this time before the City Council Zoning & Planning Committee.
The Kahuku High School cafeteria was filled to capacity with hundreds of attendees, the majority in support as evidenced by the large number of residents in blue Envision Laie t-shirts.
Many community members and leaders testified about the need for more housing options, the needs of major area employers, and job opportunities for Ko'olauloa throughout the 25-year planning horizon of the KSCP.
After a presentation by the city's Department of Planning & Permitting and around four hours of public testimony, both for and against KSCP Bill 47, the council members briefly discussed topics to be addressed when the committee reconvenes for decision making in the near future.
We'll keep you informed as the process moves forward and the next committee hearing on the bill is announced.
We express our appreciation to those who attended in support -- your presence and voices made a difference.
Mahalo,
The Envision Lā'ie Team
