Aloha ,

As mentioned in our last newsletter, the City Council Zoning & Planning Committee is holding a hearing next Tuesday for residents to provide input on the City's Ko'olau Loa Sustainable Communities Plan (KSCP) final draft:

  • Next Tuesday, Oct. 8th, 6-9 p.m.
  • Kahuku High Cafeteria

A number of Envision Laie proposals are included in the KSCP draft, such as additional housing at Malaekahana, growth for BYU-Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center, and an alternate access road.

However, some oppose this plan. The committee's decision will be based largely on the voices at this meeting -- our future will be shaped by our participation.

Laie From Above

We encourage you to attend and wear your blue Envision Laie t-shirt to show your support! Contact Jane Toluono at 293-6467 to request your free t-shirt.

Make Your Voice Heard - Send A Written Comment

Residents have another opportunity to make their views known. It's important that the City Council know what our community wants - we hope you will participate in the input process.

Comments need not be lengthy to be effective - a simple statement regarding your support for the plan is fine. Include your name and an address. Testimony should be sent via web e-mail to: http://www1.honolulu.gov/council/emailzp.htm or by fax to (808)768-3827. Reference Bill 47 (Ko'olau Loa SCP).

Encourage your household members, family and friends to send in their comments too - every opinion matters and every voice counts!

New Video: What Is Envision Laie?

We recently asked local area residents, "What is Envision Laie?" We captured their responses and perspectives in this brief video, which included 'it's about the preservation of families' and 'it's about the health of the community.'

To see the video, go to www.envisionlaie.com or our Facebook page (Envision Laie). You're likely to see a friendly face or long-time resident that you know!

We look forward to seeing you next Tuesday.

Mahalo,
