The voting period for the neighborhood board election began on April 26 and continues through Friday, May 17th. For more info, click here for our April 26th newsletter.
The neighborhood board commission office recently clarified that it did not send voting passcodes to voters in subdistricts where there is no contested race. We understand this to mean subdistricts where the number of candidates does not exceed the number of seats, in the Ko'olauloa Neighborhood Board area: La'ie, Punalu'u and Ka'a'awa. It appears then that the only contested subdistricts where voting will take place in our neighborhood board area are Hau'ula and Kahuku.
We encourage residents in those subdistricts to vote, and to vote for those candidates that represent their views on important issues -- the long-term sustainability of our communities, including much needed housing and economic growth, is critical to the future of Ko'olauloa.
If you have any further questions, please call the Neighborhood Board Commission Office at 768-3717 or go to: http://www1.honolulu.gov/nco/2013electionfaq.htm.
Remember, every vote counts. Happy voting!
