On Wednesday residents had another opportunity to provide input on the city's Ko'olau Loa Sustainable Communities Plan (KSCP) amendment - this time before the city Planning Commission.
The Windward Community College Hale Akoakoa rooms were filled with blue as well over one hundred residents showed up to express their support for the KSCP revision, proposed by the city's Department of Planning & Permitting (DPP).
The solid showing sent a clear message to Planning Commission members that our communities are in favor of growth proposals for our region. Many residents and community leaders testified about the need for more housing, jobs and opportunities throughout the 25-year planning horizon.
After hearing a presentation by the DPP, around 3 hours of public testimony, and questions to DPP staff, the Planning Commission closed public input on the KSCP and will deliberate further on Wednesday, March 20th.
"Achieving harmony between the needs of the present and the aspirations of future generations is what the KSCP is all about," said Laie Community Association president Pane Meatoga, Jr. "Today's public hearing is an affirmation of the process and the determination of our community to see it through for the good of all concerned."
We'll keep you informed as the process moves forward.
A big mahalo to all those who came out to express their support. Your presence and voice made a difference!
Thank you,
The Envision Lā'ie Team
