...And Mele Kalikimaka to you and your 'ohana!
The holiday season is upon us, 2012 is coming to a close, and we're gearing up for the new year.
HRI 2013 Calendar Celebrates PCC's Golden Jubilee!
Since the mid 1990s, Hawaii Reserves, Inc., has published calendars each year that focus on some unique aspect of our wonderful community. The calendars, distributed free of charge to residents and special associates, have become keepsakes for many long-time community members.
Past editions have focused on various subjects, including our keiki, our kupuna, the LDS Laie Hawaii Temple, BYU-Hawaii, and historic snapshots of yesteryear.
The 2013 calendar celebrates the Polynesian Cultural Center, which opened on October 12, 1963, and is celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout next year.
PCC's golden anniversary marks much more than a business success; the center's impact, influence and goodwill as an ambassador to the world for Polynesia, the LDS Church, our community, the state and nation is truly immeasurable.
Happy 50th, PCC!
Adopt A Section of the Malaekahana Bike Path
It's hard to believe that the Malaekahana Bike & Pedestrian Path has been up and running for almost two years! The path was a result of the Envision Laie community planning process and a public-private partnership project led by the Laie Community Association, Hawaii Reserves, Inc., and the Kahuku Community Association.
Even before its official opening and dedication on March 19, 2011, the path linking Laie and Kahuku communities has been extremely popular with Kahuku High & Intermediate students and residents of all ages.
Volunteers have been maintaining and cleaning the path as a community service, and the Laie Community Association oversees an "Adopt-A-Section" maintenance program.
There are still two sections that need "adopting" -- if you, your family or organization is interested in helping out, please contact Kevin Schlag of the LCA board at [email protected].
Best wishes for a very merry Christmas,
The Envision Lā'ie Team
