Greetings!

Please see following our Annual Report for 2012, which also looks ahead to 2013.

And please see also following that our Honoring Donors for 2012, and join me in thanking all our donors for helping us have our strongest year of giving yet.

Annual Report for 2012

Thanks be to God for the donors and donations he raised up for the Foundation for Reformed Theology in 2012, our thirtieth year! I am grateful to be able to report that we celebrated our anniversary by receiving gifts of $107,465. This was an increase of $12,000 over the previous year and of $24,000 over the year before that.

Please join me in thanking all our donors for last year-the most in any year yet!-as recognized on the enclosed report, "Honoring Donors for 2012." We are also grateful to have added to that report a new category of givers, "Supporting Congregations."

Your gifts have made it possible for us to reach more ministers and members, to help them recover the historic faith of the Reformed church, and so to help build up the congregations they serve through better preaching, better teaching, and better pastoral care in 2012.

For instance, your gifts have made it possible us to conduct fifteen ministerial seminars in 2012. This is five more seminars than the year before and is the most in any year of our program, at least for which I have records. These week long and ongoing communities of guided study in Reformed theology met all around the country. As you know, we reimburse  expenses for room, board, and travel in order for participants to attend these seminars.

As a part of this, we welcomed two new ministerial seminar leaders into our program in 2012. Ms. Kelsy N. Brown, pastor of Altavista Presbyterian Church of Altavista, Virginia, led a new seminar of young ministers all recently graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and meeting at Pittsburgh. Dr. James R. M. Young, now designated pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro, Virginia, led a new seminar of ministers from various seminaries and serving in various states, and they also met at Pittsburgh.

This continues as we welcome Dr. Walter L. Taylor, pastor of Oak Island Presbyterian Church of Oak Island, North Carolina, as a new seminar leader in 2013. Walter is recruiting seminar members now and planning to meet at Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, South Carolina. We are also actively recruiting additional seminar leaders and members.

Beyond these seminars, your gifts also have made it possible for us to continue to offer publications of Reformed theology to readers around the world, and your gifts have made it possible for us to continue in conversation with authors for more such publications.

Your gifts have made it possible for us to expand our website on the Internet and through that to provide help and resources to people around the world. For instance, hundreds of people have joined in our plan to read through John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion this year, and we are discussing the readings each day on Facebook.

Your gifts also have made it possible for us to continue to support Mr. Thomas Christian "Chris" Currie in his Ph.D. studies in Reformed Theology at the University of Edinburgh.

The board of directors, at its annual meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, adopted a resolution of gratitude to Mr. Hebert H. "Herb" Browne, Jr., for his fourteen years of service as a director. Herb is an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte and is the attorney who devised both our Articles of Incorporation and our Bylaws. The board also welcomed Mrs. Stanley W. "Paula" Baker, an elder from First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, South Carolina, onto the board as a new director.

With 2012 complete, we now look ahead to 2013. As we are grateful for increased support in the year and years past, so we now continue to seek, and to ask you for, even more increasing support this year and beyond. The Foundation has increasing opportunities and therefore growing responsibilities to serve the church at this time, and your continuing and increasing support can make it possible for us to do so.

As you know, it is the mission of the Foundation for Reformed Theology to recover the historic faith of the Reformed church so as to apply it to the life of the church today. The church needs that now more than ever. It is our annual giving that makes it possible for us to fulfill this mission, to do our work, and to expand our program to reach more ministers and more congregations in the future. For instance:

     A gift of $1,000 could send one minister to a seminar;
     A gift of $5,000 could send five ministers to a seminar;
     A gift of $25,000 could provide for five seminars of five ministers each;
     A gift of $50,000 could provide for ten seminars of five ministers each; and
     A gift of $100,000 could provide for one seminar of five ministers in perpetuity.

Please let me know if you have any questions about our mission, work, program, or funding. I would appreciate the opportunity to try to answer them. And please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for the same. I would be grateful to receive them.

Moreover, please let me know if I may come visit with you and with others from the church you serve in order to promote the mission and work of the Foundation for Reformed Theology.

Thank you for your faith, your faithfulness, and your generosity. May you have the very best New Year ever!
