Farm to School In & Around the County
October was a busy month with National Farm to School celebrations at so many schools. A big thank you to all the school Harvest Festivals that brought together communities of growers and families. Each school creates a unique event reflecting their school community. Good food and great fun dining on the bounty of the county.
ACORN hosted a Harvest of the Month and curriculum workshop, very well attended by food service and educators. Board member Emily Hoyler, provided key classroom insights and networking opportunities. MUHS Alternative Ed program showcased their greenhouse and demonstrated growing classroom mico-greens-, which was a treat for all. Many thanks to Nino for the excellent pizza for this supper-time meeting.
We are thrilled to promote GMFTS Harvest of the Month program for schools, retailers and farm stands. Now is good time to join the Harvest of the Month for recipes and educational materials for your business, classroom or your home! Has your local school pledged? Ask your local retailer if they too have made the pledge.

Rich in flavor, balanced in water content they are a cooks' dream ingredient for fall cooking. Now that the chill is settling in, look for Brussels sprouts at farm stands, they sweeten with the cooler temps; thinly sliced, add to a saute with pumpkin.
