A message from Dr. Traci Pierce, superintendent Growing Together, Serving our Community

We want to provide our students with the best learning environments possible, and this means responding to our ever-growing student population.

The district is hard at work sharing important information with the community regarding the district's long- term facility strategy and bond funding plan, including the upcoming April 26 bond measure.

We are in the process of meeting with a variety of community groups... In addition to in-person informational meetings, we have an entire section of our district website dedicated to sharing information with the community, and we have developed a short informational video as well. Click here to view the video, now posted to the district website.

Skyward missing assignments issue

A feature in Skyward allows parents to receive automatic emails when assignments are marked missing. Skyward has acknowledged a software bug that causes Semester 1 missing assignment parent notification emails to persist into Semester 2. Any assignment that is marked as missing in Semester 1 continues to cause the auto-emails to be sent even if there are no missing assignment for Semester 2. When a parent views missing assignments in the actual gradebook, the current semester missing assignments are correctly displayed. The vendor is aware of the issue and has not released a timeline on the fix.

School News

Students glued together red-and-white striped paper hats and gathered on carpets around the district on March 2 to listen to teachers and administrators read Dr. Seuss. National Read Across America Day coincides with the author's birthday. Read more about how our students celebrated.

Kamiakin Middle School gets a (caffeine) boost thanks to grant for Transition Room students

On Friday, February 19, a Transition Room student at Kamiakin Middle School carefully washed her hands and measured ingredients to make a mocha, which she and some classmates delivered to a teacher during first period. Another student, who uses a speech-generating device, asked for "Money, please." During Cougar Coffee Cafe, which happens every Friday, students are supervised and supported by staff. They learn to follow a recipe, practice fine-motor and social skills, track orders, and count money. Read more.
