About Young Conservatives for Energy Reform

Young Conservatives for Energy Reform is a network of conservative activists who believe in taking a clear-eyed look at our nation's energy needs and sources, and pushing for policies that best suit America's national security, economic and environmental interests in the 21st century.  Clean energy technology innovation--solar, electric vehicles, grid-level storage, demand-response technology, wind power and fuel cells--is rapidly advancing, and we believe that local and state governments must rapidly modify existing regulations in order to minimize red tape, reduce bureaucracy, and thwart government inefficiency.  Doing so can enhance U.S. national security.  Additionally, it can grow the economy, advance environmental stewardship, and reduce the need for costly taxpayer energy subsidies.

Michele Combs

Michele Combs is the President of the Young Conservatives for Energy Reform. She has over 25 years experience in Republican politics, working on campaigns for Republican candidates on a national, state and local level. Michele began her role in politics at age 21 when she became the State Chairman of the South Carolina Young Republicans. Under the guidance of the late Lee Atwater, a fellow South Carolinian, who was the Campaign Manager for George H. W. Bush and former RNC Chairman, Michele oversaw the growth of her chapter to one of the most active in the country and was elected as "Young Republican of the Year" in 1989.
