DIRECTOR'S REPORT

As a parent, I appreciate what the library offers for my child. Even though my twelve-year-old son thinks he knows everything, or thinks he can find it on the Internet, we've used library resources for many assignments over the years. Not only is the library a value, it is a stress reliever to know that we can find what we need in one convenient place. Library resources will become even more important as schools implement Common Core State Standards. Our staff has been purchasing materials that complement the standards and provide students with needed resources in math and English language arts. Your library is ready to help you and your child be successful in school.

March is Reading Month

There are so many great reasons to take the time to read! Maybe you're looking for a way to bond with the kids over an old favorite you could read aloud. Perhaps you've always wanted to tackle one of the classics. Maybe you want to start a book discussion group among friends or co-workers. How about reading the One Book, One Community selection in preparation for the author's visit to Saginaw next month? Even if your life seems too busy, you can still find ways to fit in some quality reading time. Try an audiobook in the car or during your workout. Turn off the television and spend 30 minutes with a good book each evening. Bring a book to work and read on your lunch break. Make reading a habit in your home starting today!
