Harrington Launches Portal to Allow Patients to Review
their Medical Summary Online

Harrington HealthCare System has launched a patient portal that will allow patients to review their medical summary, including latest test results, their allergy list, and medication information online.

The Harrington Hospital Patient Portal, using FollowMyHealth, is available to patients through the Harrington Hospital website (www.harringtonhospital.org/myhealth) or by going to www.followmyhealth.com.

Patients who go to Harrington Hospital, use its outpatient clinical services (such as Laboratory Services or Diagnostic Imaging) or see physicians participating in the program, will be able to use the safe, secure and completely confidential portal anywhere they have internet access, any time of the day or night.

To learn more about FollowMyHealth, and to register to use it, please go to www.harringtonhospital.org/myhealth or call 508-765-3160.

Patients can access the patient portal from home or from their mobile devices once they have registered for an account and established a secure username and password.

"We are interested in keeping our patients informed about their health in the most efficient and up-to-date manner," said Harrington HealthCare System President and CEO Edward H. Moore. "Our Patient Portal, through FollowMyHealth, is just another way in which we provide our trademark TLC -- Total Local Care -- to our patients."

"FollowMyHealth doesn't replace personal contact with physicians or caregivers; it supplements it," said Harry Lemieux, Harrington's Chief Information Officer. "Patients can access their health information anywhere they have an internet connection."

The Duck
Mixology 401: Versatile Vodka
August 19, 2014, 6:30PM

Come join your favorite mix-masters at The Duck for the fourth installment of our mixology classes. This month's course subject is vodka. Vodka is a spirit which originated in Eastern Europe, the name stemming from the Russian word 'voda' meaning water, or as the Poles would say 'woda.' The chameleon of liquors, vodka has a crisp flavor that pairs effortlessly with almost any mixer. The secrets to successful vodka drinks are a creative imagination and an expert eye for ratios. Before you tackle the ever-growing list of vodka cocktails, we'll start with some of the basics that have been enjoyed by drinkers for decades and show no signs of losing their appeal.

Here are the details: Includes hands-on demonstration and sampling of cocktails. Cocktails will be paired with an appetizer created by our chefs. You'll learn how to mix, shake, pour, and garnish. Guests will receive recipe cards for both drinks and appetizers. The price for this evening's activities is just $25 per person.

Hey! Vodka drinks, appetizers, and no test! Why can't all classes be like this? Class size is limited to 15 so call The Duck at 508-347-2321 to make your reservation now. In addition, each guest will receive a 15% off food coupon to be used for dinner that night.

Cooking with Rico: Sunday Dinner

Avellino

August 21, 6:30pm

Most of us remember, well some of us remember, the tradition of the family dinner where the family would gather around the table after mom cooked most of the day and was delighted to have the home team in place for as long as we could sit still. Sadly, most of us can't imagine cooking these Sunday dinners today; they seem old-fashioned. Who's got six hours to make dinner? We're too busy right? According to surveys, however, that's beginning to change. This is good. Studies show that children who eat meals with their families are less likely to have behavioral problems, more likely to do well in school, and more likely to have a healthier diet.

More good news, Rico is going to teach us some simple recipes that draw from his Sunday dinner memories and show us that dinner on Sunday doesn't have to take all day to prepare. For this "Cooking with Rico" event you will not only experience some great food, but you will also learn how to prepare them in your home and create some new memories you'll enjoy for years to come.

As always, these events sell out quickly so make your reservation early. This event is $55 per person with wine pairings, or $39 without.* Tax and gratuity are not included. Make your reservations now by calling Avellino at 508-347-2321.

16th Annual Pet Rock Fest

September 7, 2014

Pet Rock Fest
Pet Rock Fest, the largest animal benefit of its kind in New England, is celebrating more than 15 years of helping animals. And also a big move. The festival, happening on Sunday, Sept. 7, from noon to 5 p.m., moves to the Sturbridge Host Hotel, 366 Main Street, Sturbridge.

Pet Rock Fest features live music (bands to be announced later this summer), a vegetarian food court, games for kids, contests for dogs, a cat photo contest, photos with your pets, doggie massages, a doggie water park, demonstrations, exhibits, vendors and, most importantly, hundreds of nonprofit groups devoted to animal welfare causes. All animals.

Pet Rock Fest gives its proceeds to worthy animal related charities that support a variety of causes, from shelters to law reform to farm animal sanctuaries. It is important to remember that Pet Rock Fest benefits all animals - not just pets.

Not only will Pet Rock Fest still offer the same favorites, such as the vegetarian food court, Frisbee dogs, agility course, adoptable pet parade, dog contest and cat contest, but the new venue offers some new options, including Pet Rock Beach, where your dog can take a dip in the lake. Yes, you heard it right. Your dog can go swimming!

For updates on the plans for the day, groups signed up to attend, and other official or not so official news, visit petrockfest.org or check us out on Facebook at  https://www.facebook.com/petrockfest and on Twitter @Petrockfestival.

Celebrating more than 15 years, Pet Rock Fest is the largest event of its kind in the Northeast, an annual festival that promotes kindness to animals and responsible pet ownership. Pet Rock Fest, held in September each year, is a family festival that features guest speakers, vegetarian food, live music, games, events, a raffle, vendors, and hundreds of area animal welfare organizations. Pet Rock is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Donations are tax deductible.
