Woodruff Scout Camp
ATLANTA SCOUTING
Your Guide to the Best Activities, Events, & Training for Your Scouts

We're wrapping up the first week of summer camp. For the next seven weeks, thousands of Scouts will experience the full promise of Scouting by living outdoors, learning new skills, and making friends for life.

Camp is the kind of life-changing experience that every boy deserves. But no boy will ever get that chance unless someone invites him to become a Scout.

That's why this fall thousands of volunteers will head out across the entire metro-Atlanta area to recruit local youth to join our program.

It is never too early to start planning for your fall recruitment efforts. In July and August, your District Membership Committee will be hosting Fall Recruitment Kickoffs complete with Papa John's pizza to help prepare you for a successful recruitment drive.

Attend one of these kickoffs and learn about the latest tools and best techniques to grow your Pack.

Contact your District Executive, or call 770-956-3180, to find the Kickoff closest to you.

Two courses are left in 2015. Click here for a complete list of courses and additional information.

Train the Trainer Continuum

The three-part Train-The-Trainer Continuum (T3, or T-Cubed) is for leader trainers in the Boy Scouts of America

Part 1: The Fundamentals of Training - August 12, 2015

This course introduces teaching techniques and skills to new Scout trainers but is also designed to help all Scouters, regardless of their experience, present effective training. Intended for both youth and adult trainers, the course will help those who might have trained for other organizations learn the BSA's training techniques, and it will help freshen up the skills of current BSA trainers.

Click here for more information and to register.

Part 2: Trainer's EDGE - August 22, 2015

This is the second part of the three-part Train-The-Trainer Continuum. The Trainer's Edge focuses on the participant, while raising the level of skill a trainer brings to the staff experience. Only practice can polish these skills, but this course is intended to "train the trainer" on behaviors and resources while offering hands-on experience in methods and media. Whatever your training position, you can benefit from this course! (This is required for all Wood Badge and NYLT staff. Retake every three years.) Training will begin at 8 AM and conclude at 5 PM.

Part 3: Master Trainer - Date TBA

The third part of the Train-The-Trainer Continuum is the Master Trainer course taught at one of the BSA's national volunteer training centers or at the regional level. This new course focuses on developing the skills needed to manage a council or district training program, as well as the skills needed to identify and develop training team members. More information coming soon.
