A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Parents,

Andrews Osborne Academy's Board of Directors recently approved contracting the services of Ford and Associates to conduct a capital campaign feasibility study.  The purpose of the study is to determine if AOA will be able to raise between $4,000,000 and $5,000,000 over the next three years, with the campaign kick- off to take place next the fall.

Consultants from Ford and Associates will be on campus for five days in January to interview parents, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the school to determine if the campaign would be successful.  They will interview approximately 50 people.  A questionnaire will also be mailed to randomly selected parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the school following the one-on-one interviews in January.

The purpose of the campaign is two-fold. First, we need to increase our limited endowment and secondly, continue to improve our facilities to attract students.  As you are aware, tuition alone does not cover all of the expenses necessary to operate a great educational program, as well as maintain a campus of close to 300 acres.  We realize that a capital campaign of this amount will be a challenge since one has not taken place in the past. The Board is, as I am, optimistic that we will be able to raise the funds over the next three years.

A preliminary case statement has been mailed to those who were invited to meet one-on-one with the consultants in January.  The case statement will also be mailed to those receiving the questionnaire who will not be interviewed.  The areas of focus on how the dollars will be allocated are based on goals from the Strategic Plan.  This does not necessarily mean everything will happen.  It depends on the findings of the feasibility study, as other areas may surface and be deemed more important.  If you would like to view the preliminary case statement, please click HERE.

If you have any questions regarding the feasibility study or case statement, please do not hesitate to contact me or Sue Leahey, development director.

Only four days next week. Our Winter Break begins Friday, December 21st.

Have a great weekend and week ahead.

Chuck Roman
