A Message From Our Head of School

Dear Parents,

Today we said goodbye to Miki Knight and Erin Dickinson, two wonderful young women from Central Coast Grammar School in New South Wales, Australia. As exchange students, they were AOA students for the past eight weeks. During their stay Miki lived with junior Macie Poskarbiewicz's family and Erin lived with junior Julie Petrelli's family. The exchange program also gave Macie and Julie the opportunity to spend eight weeks as students at Miki and Erin's school last summer.

All four learned much about each other's countries, cultures, and traditions. Erin thought coming to America was like a dream and she looked forward to the chance to ride at our Equestrian Center and learn about a different riding style. Miki was really excited to meet new people and see what life was like in a different country. She also took riding lessons at our Equestrian Center. At our assembly this morning, Miki and Erin were presented with Lifetime Phoenix student certificates and gifts from AOA.

Andrews Osborne Academy is very fortunate to have this exchange program with Central Coast Grammar School. AOA students who are or will be in the Upper School next year can apply to the exchange program via Mrs. Miller. I've been told by the students who have participated - it has been a life changing experience.

As we look forward to the holiday, we hope that you plan on attending our annual holiday programs. You are very welcome to bring guests with you. The Middle and Upper School Winter Concert takes place next Thursday, December 13th, beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Lower School Holiday Program for students in grades K-5 will be held on Wednesday, December 19th, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Tomorrow is Breakfast with Santa. We are expecting over 200 in attendance, which is almost double of the number who attended last year. Special thanks to the AOA Parents Association for hosting this event, and well as parent coordinator Lisa Graham and our student volunteers who help to make it happen.  Photos from this event will be available by Sunday.  Please go to: http://lapartypix.zenfolio.com/santa12812
and use the passcode: phoenix.

The Parents Association also held the annual Holiday Boutique this week and we thank the parent volunteers, lead by Visnja Kennelly, who make this a successful event.

Have a great weekend and week ahead.

Chuck Roman
