CMT Awareness Month!!!
We've been absolutely delighted with the number of newspaper articles that have been published about CMT and our wonderful members during the month.
You can find a full list of all the articles here http://www.cmt.org.uk/news.php - I think there may be others - if we've missed any articles, please do email me a link or send me a cutting.
There are also several articles yet to be published, and there is an article in this week's "Real People" magazine.
We've also been on several local BBC radio stations - you can listen to them all at www.facebook.com/cmtuk or on our YouTube channel. They were all recorded as "video" although there is nothing to watch! Again, there are couple more to come, I believe.
CMT Related Goodies Be sure to visit the CMT UK webshop at www.cmt.org.uk/shop.php, where you will find all sorts of items to help spread awareness. There are also t-shirts, key chains, mugs...just about anything you can think of to help celebrate Awareness Month. In particular, don't forget our lovely silicon bracelets, at just £1 each! As much as I hate to say it, we ALSO have some lovely Christmas cards available too - sorry! You can also pay your annual subscription more easily by going to the webshop too - the price has been adjusted to reflect the fact that we have to have a "postage and packaging" rate (which is clearly not applicable) - if you chose the "small postage" amount, together it adds up to the right amount!
And if you'd like to make a donation, why not try: Just text CMTK01 to 70070 + the amount of your donation. That will make a donation to our General Fund; for research, text CMTK03, and for the YPW Fund, CMTK02

GLOBAL AWARENESS DAY
Global Awareness Day is tomorrow, 28th September. There are two main ways you can get involved - firstly, between 12noon and 2pm, we'll be broadcasting LIVE on Ustream - go to
www.ustream.tv/channel/cmt-awareness-month There is an instant chat function on Ustream so that you can ask questions, but you need to create an account on Ustream in order to post chat messages. Can I ask a favour? If you do create an account, can you use your real first name, so that I know who I'm talking to?! I can't promise that the livestream will be riveting to watch, but it could be fairly entertaining as Lisa Yeates and I get on with our day to day work!!
Secondly, the instant chatroom at www.chatzy.com/cmtuk will also be open and available - you can also use this to ask questions to me in the office. The password is charcot1.
Our friends at CMTA in the States have been asking for translations of "Charcot-Marie-Tooth: Just Google it" as a catchy way of attracting attention on social networking sites tomorrow, so if you can help, it's still not too late to email them to me, and I'll pass them on!

Have fun tomorrow, and lets hope it makes a real difference! We know it takes time, so do remember that spreading awareness is a 365 day job, not just for a month or a day!
And going along with Awareness is the need for funds - more funds mean that we can do MORE to help you - whether by funding more research, or better publications, or maybe videos on different subjects or.... all sorts of things! If you can afford to make a donation, please go to http://www.cmt.org.uk/donate-online.php Many thanks! Without your help, we won't exist for very long. Regards
Karen
