Greetings!

Just a short email from me today with a couple of urgent bits and bobs - Awareness Month is coming us fast, and we're hitting the media as hard as we can!  Can you help?

Scottish Conference

BOOKINGS ARE NOW OPEN!  We're slightly panicked, because so few have booked!!  This is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, catch up with ones you've met before AND learn something about CMT at the same time!

Please send in your bookings by 7th September to enjoy a smaller, but just as perfectly formed, Conference at the Hilton Hotel in Strathclyde, on Saturday 15th September.

All members north (and just south) of the border should have received their booking form by now, but you can come no matter where you live.  Download thebooking form from here!

Don't forget, this is open to ALL members, no matter where you are - if you're in the northern part of England, it's probably closer to you than our usual Conference venue in the Midlands!

Awareness Month
WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP!

Paula Hunter, the PR consultant that we're using to co-ordinate our media campaign this year, is doing fantastic things for us, and is working hard to get our stories in both the national and regional press, and we "may" get stories in some of the major dailies - fingers crossed!!

But your stories make a huge difference, particularly for regional press, so please, if you would like to help with this campaign, go to this survey and complete the Case Study form - this is just a quick and easy way of transmitting your information to Paula!

She particularly needs willing people in the towns/area of:

OLDHAM
LEICESTERSHIRE
DERBYSHIRE
EXETER/SOUTH DEVON

And she does need these URGENTLY, because things are hotting up as we get closer to the beginning of September!!

Cake, Muffin and Tea Parties

We raised the best part of £2,000 from Tea Parties last year, so if you didn't have a go last year, why not give it a try this year?  All the resources are available for download from www.cmt.org.uk/Teaparty.php or you can request a pack from me as usual.

Remember, the Party can be as large as you can cope with, or small and intimate with a handful of friends.  You're not just raising money, but raising awareness too!

Give it a go!!

Improving Adult Rehabilitation Services

Invitation to be interviewed

Have you had a recent illness or injury? If so we would like to hear from you about your experience of getting back to doing what you want to do for instance:

  • Coming home following a stroke or major trauma
  • Returning to work following an amputation
  • After a relapse or exacerbation in your long term condition eg multiple sclerosis, diabetes or chest condition etc
  • Enjoying  an occupation or hobby following cancer or a mental health issue
  • Managing your home after a hip replacement

We want to use your experience along with others to understand what is important for people using services to achieve as much as is possible after their illness or injury.

If you are willing to take part in a telephone interview, please contact Katherine Andrews by email headed "Adult Rehabilitation" at katherine.andrews@nhs-commissioning.net, or call 07805 027463 giving your name and contact details as soon as possible. She will arrange a confidential telephone interview lasting about 45 minutes. Your identity will not be shared and all information will remain anonymous.

Although any individual issues or complaints cannot be resolved by this project, the insights you give will be extremely valuable in helping the Chief Health Professions Officer and her team understand what is good about current services and what might need to change in the future.

We very much hope you will want to participate to help improve services for the future and we look forward to hearing from you in the very near future - the timescales for responding are quite tight!
