Volunteer Open House   

This month SAF explores how the built environment affects all of our senses - including taste!  We are also serving up some good times at our annual Open House & Volunteer Celebration  "Hungry for Architecture?" on February 5!  It will be a great time to connect with volunteers engaged in SAF and a way to find out more about upcoming volunteer opportunities in a fun setting, Melrose Market Studios!  RSVP by Mon. Feb. 4.

One of the most common things we do as a community is eat, making restaurants so important to our everyday lives. They are fixtures in the neighborhood that do great things for street life. But how do restaurateurs choose the neighborhoods? How do architects think about the context in the design?

Panelists include:
Jim Graham of Graham Baba Architects, Josh Henderson of Skillet Diner, Meeru Dhalwala of Shanik & Matt Kellogg of Point 32.

Designed for Dining: The New SLU

Hungry for design?  Satisfy your palette with this unique tour through Seattle's newest dining district, South Lake Union.   Along the route you'll get to know the neighborhood, meet some of the architects and chefs behind these restaurants, and learn more about the critical role design plays in creating a tasty dining experience.     

Tour stops include Shanik, Cuoco, Bravehorse Tavern and others.

A living building challenge to design a greenhouse - deadline extended to Feb 28. The winner will be announced at the Living Future Conference in May 2013. SnoLEAF is North Puget Sound's connection to Cascadia Green Building Council.
