Welcome to 2015!

If you've been reading this newsletter for a while, then you know that I'm a big fan of ritual and ceremony, not only for working with death and the afterlife, but also for working with seasonal milestones and other important transitions.

Rituals to ring in the New Year usually include parties, football games and making promises to ourselves (resolutions) that we usually don't keep. I would like to suggest adding a spiritual ritual to the routine that expresses the idea of new beginnings in a more metaphysical manner. For example, on New Year's Day this year, I participated in a labyrinth walk at a progressive Episcopal church, which was followed by an hour of sacred dances from various cultures that included Native American, Christian, Sufi and Hindu. There were about 50 people present, and we left feeling elevated, inspired and most importantly more connected to Spirit and to one another.

So this issue of The Afterlife Advocate is all about connection... to the higher realms of consciousness, to the afterlife, and to other living beings. And this month's special offer is an excerpt from the upcoming book Spiritual Sight: The Manual by Melvin Morse MD and psychic medium Isabelle Chauffeton Saavedra. Click HERE to read the excerpt.

Love and blessings for the new year...

How to Have an Out-of-Body Experience (OBE)
Contributed by William Buhlman

The key to initiating OBEs is creating a realistic plan of action and then following through. There is an old saying that it takes 21 days of daily repetition to create a new habit. This concept of mental reprograming is especially true with OBEs. I remember that it took me 24 days of dedicated practice before I had my first OBE. It's clear that our preparation and daily practice are critically important because it conditions our mind to accept our unlimited potential for exploration beyond the physical body.... Five Movies to Jump Start an End-of-Life Conversation

This wonderful article was contributed by Karen Wyatt MD, founder of the End-of-Life Unviersity and a featured presenter at our upcoming Afterlife Conference.  In keeping with this month's theme of connection, Karen's tips on how to talk to loved ones about our end-of-live wishes are extremely useful, and watching a movie together is a great way to open the door to that conversation. Read more here...
Pearls of Wisdom
Conversation Snippets from our Facebook group

"Everybody goes to heaven... no  exceptions. It's true there are many dimensions to heaven, but none are places to which we are sentenced to eternal suffering as punishment from a judging god. Each person experiences the interlife in a way that is unique to their individual path and growth trajectory."

"We chose to come here. Now deal with it."

"Most people who don't believe in an afterlife are really saying they don't believe in the Sunday school version of an afterlife (reward in heaven, punishment in hell). The same is true for people who don't believe in "God." What they're really saying is that they don't believe in the humanoid god-in-the-sky from the Old Testament."
