URGENT APPEAL
We have just heard this afternoon that a family who are moving into a sanctury home very shortly are in desperate need for a stove.  The husband is currently in hospital having heart problem treatment and when he comes home he needs to have comfort and warmth.  Without a stove this is impossible as the winter is approaching and the family is facing the temperatures reaching -30.  The cost? £250.00 this really could make the difference between life and death.  Please click here if you can help us.

 Auction Bidding Open!
We have some great lots for our auction this year and just because you aren't able to join us on the night is no reason why you should miss out altogether.

Child Sponsorship
One of the real joys about Child Sponsorship is that even though you might support a young girl or boy for a number of years, the gift you are giving them lasts a lifetime.  Raul Chirica our Operations Manager in Romania has recently sent this update to us, and it is a powerful example, in his own words, of just this.

Florentin Olariu is a boy who was in the project and we enjoyed helping him each month through the child sponsorship programme.  The day came when he had to fly alone.  He turned 18 years and the Child Sponsorship project remained only a beautiful memory for him.

After a while, I looked for Florentine and I invited him to come and have a talk with me.  Although it is very difficult, I was very happy to find that he found a job to earn his bread honestly.  He was one of the children who didn't give up fighting and now he has a job.

Florentin is the child who was helped and who learned to help himself.   Now it is such a joy for me to help him each month with some food even though he is not in the project anymore.  He is one of the "forgotten" who with the help of People against Poverty's vision to support people in communities and help them to want to change their own lives, that he can now proudly walk the city knowing that he is able to integrate back into a society that once rejected him.

Thank you, who have the heart not solely for financial aid, but also for spiritual support and we thank God for how He is working in peoples' lives.

As Time Flies By
The clocks going back is a real mark of the year moving towards a close.  It only seems like yesterday when I last visited our project in Romania and here we are again travelling out with a team next week.  I am delighted that I have one of our Business against Poverty members coming along, Rob Beale and his wife (www.robbeale.co.uk).  Mark Benham (www.markbenham-art.co.uk) who has designed this years amazing Christmas cards is also coming along to record our trip through the medium of photography.  I am really looking forward to sharing the fruits of his labour with you al!

With the dark nights now upon us many of you I know are beginning to think about travel plans for 2013.  Why not try something completely different something that will change lives?  I am taking bookings now for our April trip to Romania so if you do want to experience something out of the norm and get involved on a deeper level then don't hesitate to contact us.  The earlier we book the cheaper the cost of flights and the final price of the trip, so it is true the early bird really does catch the worm!

Life is full of contrast and immediately I return from Romania our Black & White Ball takes place.  Once again it is a sell out and it is shaping up to be a night to remember!  Until then I hope everyone takes care.

La revedere! (Romanian for goodbye)

 What a Gift!
Meet Jacky Williams, he is the latest child in Haiti to find a Sponsor through our scheme. What an early Christmas gift for Jacky and his family!

With only 7 weeks until Christmas we have launched our gift appeal.  This aims to ensure that every one of our children on the Child Sponsorship programme receive a Christmas gift and the great thing is you don't have to commit to being a Sponsor to donate.

Just go to our donations page and as you complete the pledge form  you will be given the option of how your donation is to be used.  Just select Christmas Gift and you will be putting the smile on the face of a child and providing them with a memory that will last a lifetime.

educationStonor School Trip
Another amazing trip by Stonor School results in another Sanctuary Home.  With the Education against Poverty programme delivering Sanctuary Homes on a regular basis it would be easy to become complacent.  The truth is these trips are the result of months of fund raising and a week of extremely hard work.  The result is lives are changed not only in Romania but back here in the UK as well.

If you ever wondered about the value of one of these Sanctuary Homes then just consider whether you would want to be spending this winter living in the structure below or a warm house to shelter your family.
