Happy Hanukkah!Hannukah
!חנוכה שמח
This week we celebrate the radiance and warmth of the Hanukkah lights, which remind us of the strength of the Jewish people standing up for our beliefs.
As we read in the Hanukkah Haftora:

"לא בחיל ולא בכוח כי אם ברוחי אמר ה' צבאות"
                                               זכריה 6:4
"Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit
says the Lord of hosts."
                                                       Zechariya, 4:6

Happy Hanukkah.

Rabbi Tzvi Graetz
Executive Director, Masorti & MERCAZ Olami

Interactive Book for Jewish ChildrenBooks
Linda Verő-Bán, Director of Education and the Rebbetzen at the Frankel Synagogue in Budapest, Hungary, started to write and publish interactive books for Jewish children in 2007 because she felt there was a lack of modern books in Hungarian for Jewish children. Linda created an outstanding Jewish children's book series, which has been translated into multiple languages, and has helped thousands of Jewish families to learn and talk about Judaism in a pluralistic and fun way.
Linda's books, which are available in Hungarian, English, German, Slovak, Russian, Romanian, Croatian and French, can be purchased online at www.beejewishbooks.com.

Celebrating with Rabbi Marcelo Rittner in Bet El Community, MexicoRittner
On November 30th, a very special event took place in Mexico City, attended by over 1,200 people. The Masorti Bet El Community celebrated 30 years with their Rabbinic Leader, Rabbi Marcelo Rittner. People flew in from all around the world to celebrate with him and greetings were received from Israel, from Christian clergy and from politicians. Rabbi Rittner built a 'Kehilla LeMofet', an exemplary community that engages in Chesed, Torah study and activities for children and youth, all while infusing those around him with his own passion and love for Judaism. This gala event demonstrated to Marcelo a little of the love that so many people have for him, both in his Kehilla and in our Masorti Movement around the world. Always with a smile, great humor and a good Jewish story, Marcelo epitomizes the ultimate Jewish Rav.
