Greetings!Well what a year for all of us - staff, committee, volunteers and supporters involved at BYS. Check out our annual report for a summary of all the things we've been doing this year. Some of the highlights for us include some awesome shows at the YAC amphitheatre - including Parkway Drive, Vibadelix, Xavier Rudd & Jinja Safari - not to mention the plethora of local, regional and touring bands, musicians & DJ's that have played the YAC stage on Friday's YACROCKCAFE. A new partnernship with SAE, and some NRCF funding, has really enabled this program to flourish. Our recognition as top three finalists in the NSW/ ACT Regional Community Awards as corporate managers of the Youth Activity Centre Crown Reserve Trust topped off a great year of development and action at the YAC!
Our team of youth workers have been busy all year supporting lots of young people through individual contact, school-based programs, hows and courses at that YAC (event management, fashion, hospitality, Trail Blazers, Youth Arts Collective, barista courses & more!) or on the streets. They are marvellously dedicated to offering young people great learning opportunities, encouragement, positive role modelling and growth.
And of course launching Cringe the Binge was also a big highlight for us at BYS this year - hopefully in time this campaign will start to change the culture that results in so many negative outcomes for young people. If you're looking for local feel-good presents you can grab a "RISE - a Movement" CD put together by our own Rock the YAC Productions crew as part of Cringe the Binge or jump on the website and grab a Cringe the Binge tee shirt. www.cringethebinge.com.au
As we now wind down for a bit of a break - we'd like to thank each and every single person and business that has supported BYS in any way during 2012. Our volunteers have been amazing, and some new collaborations with local businesses such as SAE, Fishheads and the Green Garage have been inspiring.
May you enjoy the good blessings that giving - to your local community and young people - bring!
Have a very safe and fun summer season.

Mullum Cottage News
'The Mullumbimby Cottage groups are beginning the process of wrapping up for 2012 and endeavouring to mark that with some fun and nurturing activities. The Year 10 girls had an all day outing with Marti driving us to various locations to take photographs. We then had a long lunch with Jemma and baby Sawyer. Many thanks to Espressohead for reduced price lunch.
Year 9 boys group did a very inspiring process with Teeya Blatt as a transitioning ritual into year 10 next year. The boys looked at who their heroes were and what made them heroes, what attributes made a hero and made Shield of Honor, which depicted the kind of young men they wanted to be. The boys were very mature, focused and came up with great personal attributes to aspire to such as compassion, courage, control of emotions, can heal, work well under pressure etc.
The Year 10 boys will have a final session with Joe Robinson and some nice food to complete their year.
